REACHING OUT

Dedicated to a painting by John William Waterhouse...

REACHING OUT

From my side of my fence
Reaching out
With a little flame of hope in heart
And in mind a little doubt
Reaching out
From this side of my fence
Reaching out
Betraying the "benefit"
The fence offers
For kindness isn't pure
When offered for a price
Bound, chained and gagged,
In a body no soul ever lived
I want the flower I want to pluck
With one hand on this fence
(Yes now I touch you, I smirk)
Reaching out
From this side of a fence
Reaching out
To flower? To thorns?
Or simply to stumble and fall?
Nonetheless
Reaching out

WARM BOWER COLD

WARM BOWER COLD

To try find it at night is futile,
The sun that then had but drowned,
Into the darkness unseen within an ocean's womb
Only to be born again on a new day with a birth new?
Anew, anew, anew?

In garden of glories that gloriously awaited
The daisies danced on songs of faith
By a little pond, pondering it's return
A broken henge lets daisies dance
Awaiting the sun so it's shadow be cast
Still waiting, still waiting, still waiting.

A heart of butter turned into stone
Stone henge stayed, stood petrified
Sombre, sullen, saddened at loss
At loss to comprehend, stood alone
as people admired the bower of roses
Stood alone, stood alone, stood alone.

Warm bower of misery cold
Chilled the heart but henge has none no more!
Demonized in its intransigence, stays to chill
As callous winds blow so cold
And rest in "peace" in warm bower cold
So cold, so cold, so cold.

CAGED BIRDS

CAGED BIRDS

A poem where 'birds' are a metaphor for 'dreams'.

In a slightly pessimistic approach, this poem talks about those dreams which we 'cage' within ourselves...

Do you have such dreams that you burried deep within? Do you think it is a good idea to kill your dreams? What do you think drives people to modify their aspirations? Is it their out of the box wish or is it the rest of the world judging them? Do you think the world suffers with tunnel vision where-in guidelines are set to differentiate between practical, acceptable, apt on one hand and silly, farfetched and unacceptable on the other?
Do you think that the only option is to modify oneself according to these so called norms?

The poem:

'Four chambers' refer to the 'heart'

The 'deep forest' implies the mysteries within us (our thought process, our life as a whole, our internal environment)

'treacherous routes'  imply the obstacles/ challenges of life.

'Starlit skies'- 'hope'

'Tall gateway to salvation' is the ultimate goal of life

Forks (in the path) are many... 'not all be trod' implies  'life is all about making choices'

'Slithering rivers'-obstacles

'Too close to heart to simply give (away)' means that our dreams, no matter how farfetched they be, are precious to us... we cannot simply part with them. (And thus they die within us , yet remain)

'Caged birds, they die with an open eye/ no hope to soar (high) (to be realised) and none to fly (fly away from us)'
