THE EAGLE ON THE ROOF

THE EAGLE ON THE ROOF

A shining sun shone somewhere
A spot-light on each name
A puppet show as began
for puppets all the same.

Snakes slithered slowly stealthily,
such venomous treachery and vice
spread wings of fearless fire,
so shameless in disguise.

As they hunt children little
unwary, caught off guard,
their cries of agony muffled
by the symphony of my bard.

And yet they crown me master,
the actors in my spoof.
They look at me and point, "See!
The eagle on the roof!"

In a world where poor governance is taking a toll on one and all, the leader along with his men, speak in sugar-coated words, of promises that sound powerful and almost magical.
Each day is like a new play, with the rising sun being the spotlight. This is what life has become- a play. It is a puppet show. People say what they are supposed to say irrespective of what is right and wrong even according to themselves.
Disguised as fearless workers, these men are snakes within. They prey on people who innocently put their faith into them while the leader continues to speak of all things good, eyewashing the masses.
In the puppet show that life has been made into, the performers as well as the audience are all puppets. Somehow they do not realise this, but in this tragic comedy, the victims play the most significant role by not learning any lesson. Afterall, the choice is theirs alone!
